The Network Dispatcher function balances traffic load among multiple TCP or UDP servers as illustrated in Figure 1-7 and provides high-availability features such as database synchronization, failure detection, and IP Takeover to re-direct traffic to a standby IBM 2212.
IBM offers the Network Dispatcher feature not only for the IBM 2212, but also in the 2210 Nways Multiprotocol Router, 2216 Nways Multiaccess Connector Model 400 and the Network Utility.
Network Dispatcher can be run in the same IBM 2212 with a target TN3270E server. Servers must be on a local subnet with the Network Dispatcher machine, zero hops away.
